Wish Granted

This has been a pretty productive weekend. Something about the 60 degree weather and the smell of woodsmoke outside reminds me of springtime when I was little. Me and my brother would have played outside and someone would have fired up the grill and it would be one of those perfect Sundays when you come inside at the end of the night and are so exhausted from running around and getting in the dirt you would just collapse and have the best dreams. Good day.
For my homework I had to read four essays, do "writer's cards" for each of them, and write a two page response to all of them. Then I have to do ten annotated bibliographies, and get five visuals for my research paper (I was the genius that chose to write about political correctness, which I suprisingly cannot find anything about). And, I'm supposed to read Ethan Frome. And chapter 3 of my history book. I've got most of that done now, but seriously, isn't that way excessive? Call me crazy.
Earlier today I went with Ashley downtown to look for some vintage/thrift stores she could write about for her staff column. Guess what I found thereee!???????
BAM! My dream boots. I don't think anyone else in the world loves them as much as me. Oh well. They are super comfy and I have just been wearing them around the house since I got back. Plus they were a whole lot cheaper than I thought I would find boots for!
I'm so comfortable and relaxed right now, but I need to get some stuff done. Get a shower, do some laundry, finish those papers, should clean my room but doubt I will...

Acid Tongue

Okay, I know I am way late hopping onto the Jenny Lewis boat, but I am obsessed with this CD. It was one of those things I heard so much about, I decidedly didn't listen to or care about. My bad?
I have an excessively long spring/summer wishlist, and today Acid Tongue was the first thing I crossed off of it.
I also seriously need:
- pair of cowboy boots (this is number one for a reason)
- gladiator sandals
- white eyelet dress/skirt
- fire's end dress
- BRIGHT orange nail polish
- army-style coat (double rows of shiny shiny buttons, yeah?)
- underwater camera
- a bunch of keychains
- new purse or backpack...or combination of both

Yesterday three of my friends found out they're in an Applebee's commercial. They each get $200 each time it airs...and I get to partake in some of this cash. Can I get a hell yeah?!

I Don't Belive In Hollywood Flavours For Today

Last night I stayed up until nearly 5:00 a.m. Then school was cancelled for snow and I didn't even see any of it because I slept until late afternoon. I also didn't take advantage of the extra 24 hours I was blessed with to do the massive amount of homework I got Tuesday.
Now I'm extremely tired but I don't want to sleep. I plan on making a pot of coffee and maybe pulling an all-nighter.
Oh, and btw that picture is supposed to be a .gif. He multiplies and comes out of his head.

Ron Mueck

If you are interested in having your mind blown, I recommend you check out anything by Ron Mueck. The detail and emotion that go into every single piece are unbelievable. "In Bed" (above) is one of my favorites of the ones I've seen, but look up "Spooning Couple." It makes me want to cry and I don't even know why. Crazy stuff.

Save a Drum - Bang a Drummer

Word of mouth is a weird thing. About 6 months ago, I first heard my favorite actor(not to mention incredibly attractive) Jason Schwartzman's, musical project Coconut Records.
I immediately knew I would love it, so I ordered the CD before I heard one song. My instincts were right, and Coconut became one of my all-time favorite bands. Part of me wanted to tell someone about my excitement, but the other part of me wanted to keep it to myself. When my CD finally arrived in the mail and one of my best friends was over, I couldn't contain it any longer. We listened to almost the whole album then, and she asked me to burn it for her. She let someone else hear it, they let 2 more people hear it, and now it seems like everyone is asking me to burn them the new CD. A song is even on a Dentyne commercial! I wish I didn't feel like it's my music and only mine, because I hate when other people do that.
Now that I have my laptop back (it had a virus for a month and everything on my hard drive disappeared) I have got started on one of my new year's resolutions - learning Italian. I got the Rosetta Stone program for Christmas, but as of yet wasn't able to start it. 2 nights ago I got it set up and it's kind of addicting. I have learned a lot, but I think maybe I need to take it slow because the last few sections haven't registered as much as the first ones did.
So far my other resolutions have been going smoothly also. I've kept up my exercise for the whole month so far, and the other day my mom got me a book called How To Cook Everything Vegetarian that's very thorough. So, now I am set to start on cooking good meals instead of just eating anything I can find without meat in it.
Another resolution was to save a set amount of money each month. I hadn't spent much of my Christmas money until about 2 days ago when I blew a lot of it on the new Coconut Records CD and a Obama t-shirt (gotta have something to show the grandkids, right?). If I keep it up this way, I should be able to stick with my goal for saving.
The only thing I'm a little concerned about is a few items I really need (want) now that Little Laura Laptop is out of her coma.
-First off, a new music player. My iPod just...stopped working...in September and iTunes is now gone because of the computer crashing thing. I hated the way iTunes worked anyway, so I have my heart set on a big, bad one 'o these.
I plan on getting the 120 with a Virgo thing from one of the artist series on the back.
-And to go with that, some of these, in black and gold.

I understand that they are over-expensive and really the only appeal of them is the cool designs...but that's just the reason I want it. And hey, it's my money right?
-And finally, before my spring break trip I really want a nice camera. I only wish I could get a Canon Rebel like one of my...aquaintances, I wouldn't call us friends...has, but he says it cost about 700 bux. And that's not my style, man. Another friend of mine has a Sony CyberShot. It's not the most fancy thing, but it takes way better pictures than even my last camera did. And that's really all I need.
If I don't get that, I'll get something of the like. I have the money for these things now, but I don't want to blow it all at one time. I really need to get a job. I should start putting in applications soon...
I have to write either 2 3-4 page papers or one 5-6 page one. I think. And I also have to do some research, and decide what my year-long paper will be about. It's already 8:15 and I still need to exercise and get a shower along with that stuff, so I should get off the computer.
